The 4th Creative District to be certified in the State of Washington is LANGLEY CREATES :<\/em><\/p>\n

Boundaries include Whidbey Island Fairgrounds & Events Center (Port of South Whidbey), the South Whidbey Community Center\/Readiness to Learn, Whidbey Island Center for the Arts, the Children\u2019s Theatre, Island Dance and Whidbey Island Dance Theatre, Island Shakespeare Festival, as well as First and Second Streets in Downtown Langley, and South Whidbey Harbor<\/em><\/p>\n

This is both a place and a program.\u00a0 It's a walkable area with a unique clustering of creative-based spaces, history, people and programs.\u00a0 The purpose is to stimulate economic development and strengthen the community.<\/em><\/p>\n

Langley Creates was certified by Washington State via ArtsWA on March 24, 2020. <\/em><\/p>\n

This is a new Washington State program designed to stimulate and support the state\u2019s creative economy. <\/em><\/p>\n

Creative Districts honor what is unique about each of Washington State\u2019s communities.<\/em><\/p>\n

The mission of Langley Creates is to bring new resources to Langley to support and promote the area as a hub for creative sector jobs, as an incubator for creative startups and entrepreneurs, a center for supporting families, veterans, youth education, the arts and lifelong learning, as a partner in the redevelopment and re-purposing of Langley\u2019s historic and cultural assets, and as a magnet for visitors who value creative communities.\u00a0 This is grassroots economic growth \u2013 building on our local culture and history and the creativity of our people. - https:\/\/www.langleycreates.org\/<\/a><\/em><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
