{"id":1896,"date":"2020-09-22T13:14:05","date_gmt":"2020-09-22T20:14:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/southwhidbeycommunitycenter.org\/?p=1896"},"modified":"2020-10-19T11:40:55","modified_gmt":"2020-10-19T18:40:55","slug":"shakespeare-fest-tent-at-center","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southwhidbeycommunitycenter.org\/shakespeare-fest-tent-at-center\/","title":{"rendered":"Shakespeare Fest Tent at Center"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"cs-content\" class=\"cs-content\"><div class=\"x-section e1896-1 m1go-0\"><div class=\"x-row x-container max width e1896-2 m1go-1 m1go-2 m1go-3\"><div class=\"x-row-inner\"><div class=\"x-col e1896-3 m1go-7\"><div class=\"x-text e1896-4 m1go-8\"><p>You just can\u2019t keep a good tent down. \u201cHenry,\u201d the tent that housed several seasons of the Island Shakespeare Festival is making a special appearance at the South Whidbey Community Center as a socially distanced home for classes forced outside by COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>Tiger Martial Arts, which has been holding classes in the field behind the center, will be the first group to use the tent, but other center partners may be able to use it, as well.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"x-row x-container max width e1896-5 m1go-1 m1go-4 m1go-5\"><div class=\"x-row-inner\"><div class=\"x-col e1896-6 m1go-7\"><span class=\"x-image e1896-7 m1go-9\"><img src=\"https:\/\/southwhidbeycommunitycenter.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Henry-the-Tent-IMG_1295.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" alt=\"Image\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/span><\/div><div class=\"x-col e1896-8 m1go-7\"><div class=\"x-text e1896-9 m1go-8\"><p>\u201cWe appreciate Peggy Juve and the festival lending us \u2018Henry,\u2019\u201d said Gail LaVassar, Executive Director of Readiness To Learn, which oversees the community center. \u201cThe tent gives us needed flexibility in providing community services,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Jesse Levesque, Curator and Placemaker for Readiness to Learn, is planning on giving Henry a distinct look while the tent is at the center. \u201cWe want to light the tent internally, giving the tent a nighttime glow,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n<p>Students from Tiger Martial Arts, led by the tent experts from the festival, put the tent up in just a couple of hours on Sunday, September 20th.<\/p>\n<p>The tent is not a permanent structure at the center, but will help serve as a temporary bridge until classes can resume indoors.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"x-row x-container max width e1896-10 m1go-1 m1go-3 m1go-4 m1go-6\"><div class=\"x-row-inner\"><div class=\"x-col e1896-11 m1go-7\"><span class=\"x-image e1896-12 m1go-9\"><img src=\"https:\/\/southwhidbeycommunitycenter.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Tent_IMG_1308.jpg\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" alt=\"Image\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/span><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You just can\u2019t keep a good tent down. \u201cHenry,\u201d the tent that housed several seasons of the Island Shakespeare Festival is making a special appearance at the South Whidbey Community Center as a socially distanced home for classes forced outside by COVID-19.
