Community Center Heat Pump Campaign
Our Community - Your Center
We Need Your Help
Help us move the thermometer to reach our goal!
We are fundraising to install new heat pumps that will make the rooms at the Center more comfortable and will greatly reduce emissions of greenhouse gases.
Campaign Ends March 30, 2022
Why does the Community Center need new heat pumps?
New heat pumps will allow the temperature of individual rooms to be controlled as best suits the need, maximizing energy efficiency. Old heat pumps using electric boilers are susceptible to malfunction and failure, causing uncontrollable heat and bursting pipes. Flooding and other damage are ripple effects from old heat pumps.
How will it benefit the Community Center?
Upon completion of phase 1, the new heat pumps will reduce greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to the amount consumed by 6 average homes each year. This will also greatly reduce utility costs. Greenhouse gas emissions will continue to decrease over time as the electricity supply becomes increasingly clean. Installing efficient heating systems is one of the most effective things we can do to make our facility carbon neutral by 2045.
Who is coordinating this campaign?
Campus partners at the South Whidbey Community Center and community partners are working together to fundraise for new heat pumps. They have already raised $113,000 of the $165,000 goal.
How can I help?
Any amount, from $5 to $5,000, will help us achieve our goal of creating a more sustainable community center. Please join in this effort and donate today!
